HOUGHTON, Mich. — June 16, 2026 — Mantra Health, the leading digital mental health clinic designed specifically for higher education, is proud to announce a new partnership with Michigan Technological University (Michigan Tech). Starting July 1, 2026, this collaboration will provide Michigan Tech’s approximately 7,500 students with access to a comprehensive, specialized mental health support system designed to serve as a seamless extension of the university’s Center for Student Mental Health and Well-Being.
A STEM-focused institution located in the Upper Peninsula, Michigan Tech serves a unique student demographic with specific academic pressures and well-being needs. After re-evaluating their existing campus mental health strategy, university leadership decided they needed a more collaborative partner that could ensure continuity of care, proactive clinical engagement, and a true investment in overall student wellbeing and success.
“One of the big selling points for me was the Mantra Collaboration Portal and the ability to connect Mantra Health to our clinical staff,” said Crystal McLeod, Director for the Center for Student Mental Health and Well-being at Michigan Tech. “In our search for a new partner, we prioritized transparency and clinical integration. With Mantra Health, we have greater visibility into students’ progress than with our previous partner. We wanted a true extension of our campus services, not an outside agency students feel their problems are being farmed out to, and Mantra Health provides that.”
“At Michigan Tech, student wellbeing is inseparable from student success,” said Laura Bulleit, Vice President of Student Affairs. “This partnership reflects our commitment to providing students with mental health resources that are not only accessible and high-quality, but deeply integrated into the fabric of their experience here. We want every student to feel supported from day one.”
To ensure the health and success of their student body, Michigan Tech has invested in a robust suite of digital mental health services through this partnership, including:
- Therapy: Evidence-based, holistic care from a network of diverse, specialized clinicians spanning all 50 states
- ConnectNow: 24/7 crisis support via phone, video, and text, as well as a faculty/staff phone line for guiding students through a crisis
- Translation services: 240+ languages supported, including American Sign Language (ASL), ensuring equitable access to therapy and crisis support
- Global support services: Therapy and 24/7 Crisis support in 200+ countries with local, culturally informed providers
- Intensive outpatient programming (IOP): An extensive care offering made available for students with high-acuity needs
- Mantra Collaboration Portal (MCP): Seamless care coordination and communication between Mantra providers and campus staff, so students receive holistic, connected support
The transition to Mantra Health represents a fundamental shift in how Michigan Tech approaches student mental health. Mantra Health’s clinicians work exclusively with college students, giving them a deep understanding of the unique academic pressures and developmental challenges of the undergraduate experience. Mantra Health also has a dedicated campus marketing team, which will function as an extension of Michigan Tech’s marketing efforts, deploying strategic, year-round campaigns aligned with the academic calendar to drive student awareness and utilization.
Through the MCP, campus staff have real-time visibility into student progress and can collaborate directly on care plans, breaking down the traditional wall between campus health centers and external providers. Students, whether accessing care through a referral from an on-campus staff member or self sign-up, have the ability to browse providers, read backgrounds, and select a therapist who is the right fit for their needs, bringing meaningful transparency to a process that has historically been opaque. Students, whether accessing care through a referral or self sign-up, can browse providers, review their backgrounds, and select a therapist who is the right fit for their needs. For Michigan Tech, this collaborative model which centers the student and their holistic needs was a key deciding factor.
“We are thrilled to partner with Michigan Tech to support their unique, high-achieving student body and campus stakeholder who share our vision of care collaboration,” said Matt Kennedy, CEO and Co-Founder of Mantra Health. “Our specialized higher education care programs paired with our level of customer support and marketing activation will be a level up for Michigan Tech students and staff for the coming years. From the initial conversations, it was clear we shared the same vision that our Collaboration Portal brings to life: ensuring every student receives the right level of care they deserve, reduces barriers to care, and campus clinicians at Michigan Tech remain in the loop throughout.”
