Most students who need support never ask for it, and by the time they do, they’re already at risk of stopping out.
Join Carla Chugani, PhD, and leaders from the New Jersey Institute of Technology and Winona State University as they share how they’re using proactive support systems designed to reach students earlier in their wellness journey.
This conversation draws on implementation experiences from campuses using new approaches to measuring student wellness, including Beacon, Mantra Health’s whole-student intelligence platform. You’ll hear how these institutions surfaced student needs that had been invisible through traditional channels, drove significant increases in resource utilization, and focused their teams’ efforts on the specific students who needed support most.
In the session, you’ll learn how to:
- Move from reactive outreach to proactive, data-informed support before students reach a crisis point
- Identify hidden basic needs — including food insecurity, housing instability, and mental health distress — before they become retention risks
- Build cross-campus buy-in across student affairs, academic advising, and residential life to act on what the data surfaces
- Use early-semester data to shape longer-term strategy and allocate support where it matters most
