Mantra Health, the leading digital mental health provider exclusively serving higher education institutions, has expanded its leadership team throughout 2025 in preparation for new, exciting innovations and broadened reach in 2026. Now supporting more than 150 college and university campuses and serving over 1.3 million students nationwide, Mantra Health is continuing to invest in clinical excellence, care model innovation, and effective scaling, aiding in our ongoing mission to bring accessible, equitable, and high-quality digital mental health care to campuses nationwide.
These six leaders bring decades of combined experience in outpatient mental healthcare, crisis care, national telehealth operations, and healthcare technology, reflecting Mantra Health’s continued focus on innovation and quality care across its rapidly growing base of campus partnerships. Their expertise will be vital in advancing Mantra Health’s commitment to building comprehensive, evidence-based, outcomes-focused solutions.
Here are the new leaders focusing on direct clinical care, programming, and organizational operations:
Jon Caldwell, DO, PhD, Director of Psychiatry, is a board-certified psychiatrist with over two decades of experience in behavioral healthcare and leadership. His academic journey includes a bachelor’s degree in psychology, medical school, a residency in adult psychiatry, and a year as Chief Resident. He further pursued a Ph.D. at the University of California at Davis, where his research focused on the neurobiology of human attachment and the long-term effects of childhood adversity. Dr. Caldwell is a recognized speaker and author, having presented and written extensively on these and related topics. His clinical and leadership experience spans various sectors, including community mental health, forensic psychiatry, employer mental health, addiction medicine, and trauma-informed care. Currently, Dr. Caldwell serves as the Director of Psychiatry at Mantra Health, where he collaborates with a dedicated team to deliver high-quality mental health and wellness solutions to young adults. Both his personal and professional life are profoundly shaped by the study and practice of contemplative psychology.
Megan Mayne, Director of Therapy, a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) who has a passion for meeting students where they are, has spent over four years at Mantra Health where she first started as a mental health provider but has since become an esteemed clinical leader. Recently promoted from Associate Director to Director of Therapy, Megan works closely with our therapists to ensure students are receiving the highest quality of care at all times. Megan received her Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Michigan and her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Westminster University.
Bethany Nelson, MA, MBA, LPC, ConnectNow Program Manager, oversees the daily operations, quality, safety, and performance of Mantra’s ConnectNow 24/7 crisis program. She has 12 years of experience across behavioral health, including crisis services and utilization review on the payer side. She previously worked for Behavioral Health Response and Carelon Behavioral Health, and Anthem, among others.
Wayne Li, MBA, Vice President of Care Delivery and Operations, brings a rare blend of clinical and operational expertise to his role as VP, Care Delivery and Operations. He spent 15 years as a licensed marriage and family therapist (LMFT) at Kaiser Permanente, where he led outpatient operations across triage, IOP, and therapy, as well as managed a 50+ clinical team. After that, he transitioned into leadership roles across various digital health companies. Most notably, he spent nearly six years at Ginger and Headspace, where he was one of the first employees and led care operations through a period of rapid national expansion: scaling a robust coaching, therapy, and psychiatry network, driving measurable improvements in care quality, and building systems that supported both operational efficiency and provider retention. At Mantra, Wayne will focus on strengthening and improving our Therapy, Psychiatry, Coaching, and ConnectNow programs. Wayne brings valuable expertise that will enhance the quality of care, operational effectiveness, and overall experience for both providers and students as we continue to grow and elevate our service offerings.
Dan Nash, Chief Operating Officer at Mantra Health, where he plays a pivotal role in executing the company’s strategic vision and ensuring Mantra continues delivering value to higher education institutions and their students. With extensive expertise at the intersection of healthcare and technology, Dan has built his career leading operations and strategy at notable organizations, including One Medical, Verily, McKinsey, and Epic Systems. He also co-founded a company focused on healthcare data privacy, underscoring his commitment to innovation in the field. He holds an MBA from the University of Michigan and a BA in Economics and Business from the University of Wisconsin.
“These new leaders bring collective expertise in psychiatry, therapy, coaching, crisis delivery, and company building at a national scale, which is exactly what we need to elevate the quality and accessibility of our services. Leaders, including members of this group, have already accelerated our mission, ensuring every campus we serve receives the highest standard of quality mental healthcare,” said Matt Kennedy, CEO and Co-founder of Mantra Health. “We’re excited for the immediate impact they had for our customers and will build on in 2026 and beyond.”
